“Riposa” (“Ecco l'ultimo dei miei anelli...”) from the opera “Isabella”In the aria "Riposa" for soprano, Isabella slips into her mother’s room deep within the walls of the kingdom of Henry IV to say her thanks and farewell. The heartbeat of Isabella’s mother, Iris, can be clearly heard in the work, but soon grows weaker, and finally disappears altogether at which point Isabella cries out, “Mama? Mama?!” With no more words to say, Isabella weeps over the body of her mother as the curtain falls to conclude the second act.
